One Totino’s customer says nearly every pizza roll in his package had the same strange problem. Other customers online say it's common.
With cheesy, familiar pizza flavors tucked inside a bite-sized pocket of dough, Totino’s Pizza Rolls are nostalgic for many people who grew up eating them as an after-school snack.
You can get them filled with classic flavors like pepperoni and cheese, or try newer options like buffalo-style chicken, cheeseburger, or nacho-flavored rolls.
Recently, however, more and more customers have been coming forward with the same complaint: the rolls are missing something pretty crucial—the filling.
In a recent TikTok video that got over 657,200 views, creator JD Roberts (@jd_ot223llc) breaks open several rolls straight out of the package, with no tomato sauce or other fillings in sight.
Viewers were shocked.
Why Are The Totino’s Pizza Rolls Empty?
Standing in his kitchen, Roberts starts breaking apart the pizza rolls one by one.
Instead of sauce, cheese, or any visible filling, they’re pale throughout and appear completely empty inside.
“This is not okay,” he says. “Let me know if you’ve had this problem.”
He keeps opening more.
“Every single one of these is empty,” Roberts says. “There’s no—there’s no filling in these pizza rolls. It’s just bread.”
By the time he’s done, Roberts says there was maybe one roll in the entire package that contained any sauce at all.
“I need some new pizza rolls,” he says. “This is a federal crime, I believe. I don’t even think that’s allowed.”
The TikToker called out the company directly in the caption, writing, “@Totino’s Pizza Rolls what is this?”
The empty rolls appear to be the result of some kind of manufacturing or filling error. Totino’s hasn’t publicly explained what went wrong with Roberts’ particular package.
Totino’s Has Something To Say
Some commenters said the missing filling wasn’t the only change they’d noticed lately.
“They taste so bad now too what happened to them???” one viewer asked. “Weird freezer burn taste with no freezer burn.”
“Lmaooo that would ruin my day,” a second viewer wrote.
Others suggested it’s part of a bigger problem with packaged foods.
“I’m SICK of the corporate greed. Hot Pockets don’t even have the POCKET anymore. UGH,” another commenter said.
“After they changed the picture on the package I swear they taste so weird and awful,” another commenter said. “even my kids don’t want to eat the pizza rolls anymore.”
Totino’s official TikTok account also chimed in in the comments.
“We’re sorry this happened! Please send us a DM so we can look into this,” the company wrote.
As of now, Roberts hasn’t updated viewers on what happened after that interaction.
What Other Totino’s Customers Have Said
Roberts definitely isn’t the only customer who says they’ve opened Totino’s Pizza Rolls and found very little or nothing inside.
In another TikTok video, one woman broke open 50 pizza rolls to see how many actually contained filling. According to her count, only 12 did, while the rest were essentially empty.
Another mom posted about a similar experience last year after noticing that many of the Totino’s Pizza Rolls her son was heating up appeared to have no filling whatsoever.
Similar complaints also show up under Totino’s pizza rolls product listings online.
One customer gave the product one star on Target and wrote, “My pizza rolls were missing the pizza! This is absurd. A 3rd of our pizza rolls were missing pizza.”
They also attached a photo showing one of the apparently empty rolls.
