If you love scuba diving then you are going to want to stay at this extraordinary underwater hotel. Conrad Maldives Rangali Island is building a luxury hotel villa in the crystal blue waters of the Maldives. This undersea residence rests 16.4 feet below the surface of the Indian Ocean and is said to be the first of its kind.
Construction has just begun on the $15 million underwater villas and it is expected to be completed by November. The Maldives underwater hotel is named the “Muraka,” which means “coral” in the Maldives’ local language of Dhivehi. Conrad Hotels said the new rooms will offer “intimate and immersive experience of one of the Earth’s most breathtaking marine environments.”
The two-story villa has a gym, a bar, an infinity pool, a sunrise-facing relaxation deck, butler’s quarters, a kitchen, an ocean-facing bathtub, and an underwater bedroom floor. “We are excited to present Muraka’s unique sleeping under the sea experience to our future guests, providing them with an extraordinary seascape of the Maldives from an entirely new perspective,” said Conrad Maldives Rangali Island’s general manager Stefano Ruzza. To stay at the underwater villa you may need to take out a loan because it will cost around $50,000 a night. Maybe you could stay at a normal hotel and just do some scuba diving.
Having underwater buildings is nothing new for the Conrad Maldives Rangali Island because they already have an undersea restaurant. The 5.8 Undersea Restaurant is the world’s largest underwater restaurant and has a $200 prix-fixe menu to eat as you watch fish frolick all around you.
