Woman Swaps Numbers With Man For Date. Then She Puts His Phone Number Into Venmo: ‘My Biggest FBI Hack’

Venmo has been a handy tool for those on the dating scene, whether it’s used to request money for dates that don’t work out or to call people out for straight up wasting your time. But one woman has shared a more efficient way to use the cash app.

Sara Caroline Bridgers (@sarcar_) says she uses the payment app as part of her pre-date “FBI” routine. Her video has racked up over 9,000 views.

“This is my biggest dating FBI hack, cuz girls like we have to be careful with who were going on dates with,” she began, while sitting in her car. “Now that my little heart is feeling mended, I’m like in the thick of going on dates again. I love dating, like I’m having so much fun but naturally, I want to do extensive background checks on like anyone I consider going on a date with. Heavily looking into who they are. But it’s hard when someone like gives you their number, asks you for your number, and you only get their first name,” she said. “Same thing for dating apps.”

Her best friend taught her the trick, she said, and so far it has worked for nearly everyone she’s dated.

“My best friend taught me that if you put someone’s phone number into Venmo. their full name will pop up like almost 100% of the time; it [has] worked for every single person I’ve gone on dates with so far. Had to share that in case it wasn’t common knowledge, cause it was a game-changer for me.”

Viewers Say Venmo Isn’t The Only ‘FBI Hack’ App That Works

Some commenters shared that they already knew about the trick. “Been using this forever welcome to the show,” one wrote.

“Venmo, Cashapp and Zelle!” a second added. “You can search name without adding for any of them.”

A third suggested it was old news, saying: “Been using this forever welcome to the show.”

While a fourth shared: “I have them send me a pic of their drivers license. One guy sent me a pic of his passport.”

Does Venmo Show Your Real Name?

According to the Venmo website, you must use your real name when signing up for an account because it is a regulated money transfer service. As part of this, the site says that it needs to verify users’ identity from time to time.

“We collect your legal name when you sign up so you can get a head start on the identity verification process, which is primarily what this information is used for,” the site reads.

However, there is an option to change your display name on the app if you’d prefer people not to publicly know your legal name.
