‘Venom 2’, Already Set To Star Woody Harrelson As Carnage, Adds Another Villain

Whether you want it or not, Venom 2 — which is set to be directed by Andy Serkis — is very much on the way.

While Venom was a comic book movie that seemed to be defrosted out of a time capsule from 2007 with its bizarre tone, pacing, and CGI, it still made a crushing at the box office, as it racked up over $865 million worldwide, which is about $200 million more than Justice League made.

Just think about that for a second — a Spider-Man movie that didn’t even have Spider-Man in it made more money than a movie with Batman and Superman in it. Just pathetic. Fucking Justice League man. But I digress.

Venom was very much a success and because of that fact, Sony is moving forward with their Spider-verse or whatever the hell it’s called, as they’re not only releasing a sequel but they’ve also greenlit Madame Web film.

And according to Deadline, not only will Venom 2 fully introduced the serial killer Carnage, aka Cletus Kasaday — who will be portrayed by Woody Harrelson — but it will also star the Spider-Man villain Shriek.

“The Marvel Comics character called Shriek has been incorporated into the plot of the Venom sequel (due in theaters on Oct. 2, 2020), according to two sources close to the project.

A Sony spokesman declined comment, citing the early-days status of the project, which won’t begin principle photography until early next year. The addition of Shriek is a logical choice considering the character’s history in the pages of Marvel Comics as the sonic-powered accomplice and romantic interest of serial killer Cletus Kasaday, aka Carnage, the monstrous archenemy of Venom.” [Deadline]

Shriek — who made her debut Spider-Man Unlimited No. 1 in May 1993 and is a drug dealer Frances Barrison with the ability to manipulate sound — has long been tied to the Cletus Kasaday character ever since her introduction.
