Anne Hathaway and Dakota Johnson star in the first trailer for 'Verity'
The first trailer for Verity, the upcoming psychological erotic thriller film based on the Colleen Hoover novel of the same name, has been released. Verity stars Anne Hathaway, Dakota Johnson and Josh Harnett.
Amazon MGM Studios dropped the first official trailer for Verity, the adaptation of Colleen Hoover’s bestselling psychological thriller. The film stars Anne Hathaway as Verity Crawford — a successful author left incapacitated after a mysterious accident — and Dakota Johnson as Lowen Ashleigh, the struggling ghostwriter hired to complete Verity’s book series while living at her home.
Josh Hartnett also stars in the film and plays Jeremy Crawford, Verity’s husband, who begins a relationship with Johnson’s character.

The film follows Lowen Ashleigh, a struggling writer played by Johnson, who is hired to ghostwrite for the incapacitated bestselling author Verity Crawford, played by Hathaway. While staying at the remote Crawford estate, Lowen discovers a disturbing autobiographical manuscript that blurs the line between fiction, reality, obsession, and what may be a confession to something terrible.
Verity will be the fourth Colleen Hoover adaptation to hit theaters, following It Ends With Us (the infamously litigated Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni movie), Regretting You, and Reminders of Him. It’s also one of five films that Hathaway is starring in this year alongside Mother Mary, The Devil Wears Prada 2, The Odyssey, and The End of Oak Street.
Thus far, the three Hoover novels that have been adapted into movies — It Ends With Us, Regretting You, and Reminders Of Him — have combined to gross $529 million at the global box office.
Verity will be released in movie theaters on October 2, 2026. Directed by Michael Showalter (The Big Sick, The Eyes of Tammy Faye, The Idea of You), the film stars Dakota Johnson, Anne Hathaway, Josh Hartnett, Ismael Cruz Córdova, Irina Dvorovenko, Brady Wagner, K. K. Moggie, Michael Abbott Jr., and a cameo from podcaster Alex Cooper as herself.
