McDonald’s is hard to beat when it comes to the fast food restaurants that dish out breakfast. However, you run the risk of missing out if you arrive after the dreaded cutoff time, which a motorcyclist in Virginia cited after he was pulled over for going almost three times faster than the speed limit.
In 1977, McDonald’s started serving breakfast at stores across the United States, and I would argue it has firmly cemented itself as the G.O.A.T. of the fast food restaurants that offer the most important meal of the day.
There was a glorious five-year run where the chain offered the All Day Breakfast option that made its grand debut in 2015, but it was sadly discontinued in 2020.
That means customers were once again subjected to the dreaded deadline that usually goes into effect at 10:30 A.M. (although it’s sometimes extended to 11 A.M. on weekends), one that has been a point of contention for decades and inspired one of the most memorable scenes in the movie Falling Down.
I can’t say I’ve ever been desperate enough to get my McDonald’s breakfast fix to risk a speeding ticket, but one man recently decided it was worth the gamble before losing that bet.

According to WJLA, an unidentified motorcycle rider was pulled over in the vicinity of Hastings Drive just before 10:30 on the morning of Sunday, August 16th in Manassas, Virginia after a police officer clocked him going 72 MPH in a 25 MPH zone.
The department released a bodycam video in which the man in question acknowledged he was being “a little quick” before saying he was trying to “hit McDonald’s breakfast” after waking up later than he intended.

He was ultimately cited for reckless driving, and while it’s unclear if he headed to McDonald’s after the traffic stop wrapped up around 10:45, he probably would’ve kicked himself based on what he would have discovered once he arrived.
Based on the location of the traffic stop, it is likely he was trying to grab breakfast at the McDonald’s that’s located at 10216 Dumfries Road.
The restaurant doesn’t post its breakfast hours on its website, but I gave them a call and spoke to an employee who said the deadline is 10:30 A.M. on weekdays but is extended to 11 on Saturday and Sunday, meaning he still had 30 minutes to take advantage when he was pulled over.
Bummer.
