A warrant ordering the arrest of Buffalo Bills linebacker Von Miller has been issued for charges of assaulting a pregnant person.
According to reports from WFAA, Miller’s longtime girlfriend has accused the 34-year-old Miller of assaulting her at their home in Dallas on the morning of Wednesday, November 29. At the time of this writing, Miller has not yet been taken into custody.
If found guilty, assaulting a pregnant person is a third-degree felony in the state of Texas, where Miller and his girlfriend live.
According to the Texas Penal Code, “an individual adjudged guilty of a felony of the third degree shall be punished by imprisonment in the Texas Department of Criminal Justice for any term of not more than 10 years or less than 2 years.”
Furthermore, in addition to prison time, Miller could also be fined up to $10,000.
Following news of Miller’s warrant, the Buffalo Bills released the following statement:
“This morning, we were made aware of an incident involving Von Miller. We are in the process of gathering more information and will have no further comment at this point.”
Miller is currently a member of the Buffalo Bills and has also played for the Denver Broncos and Los Angeles Rams. A former Pro Bowler, Super Bowl champion, and likely future Hall of Famer, Miller has 123.5 career sacks since being drafted by the Broncos out of Texas A&M University as the #2 overall pick in the 2011 NFL Draft.
While Miller only spent one season with the Los Angeles Rams in 2021 following a trade, the Rams won the Super Bowl that year, giving Miller his second Super Bowl ring following his 2015 title with Peyton Manning and the Broncos.
His best season, as far as sacks go, actually came during his second year in the league in 2012 when he posted 18.5 sacks in 16 games. He also holds the record for most sacks in a Super Bowl game with 4.5, which is tied with Charles Haley.
