The Wade Boggs Challenge From ‘It’s Always Sunny’ Got A Major Endorsement From The Man Himself

Based on how much alcohol the characters on It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia have consumed over the course of the show, it’s amazing that there hasn’t been an episode called “The Gang Gets Liver Cancer” yet.

Their questionable drinking habits stretch all the way back to the very first episode of the show when Dennis got obliterated on tequila and ended up in a situation that would have sparked multiple think pieces that use the word “problematic” too many times if it had aired today.

Charlie has also fallen victim to excessive binge drinking on multiple occasion, whether we’re talking about the time he tried to fight Santa or ate two pizza and drank 24 beers out of spite.

However, nothing highlights the group’s substance abuse issues better than “The Gang Beats Boggs,” the episode where they set out to conquer the Wade Boggs (R.I.P) Challenge by drinking 70 beers each on a cross-country flight (an achievement the Hall of Famer allegedly pulled off during his playing career).

I’d like to give a special shoutout to the guy who tried to beat Boggs in real life but “only” drank 50.

Respect.

The newest episode of It’s Always Sunny aired on Wednesday night and featured the show’s most notable women attempting to top Boggs on a flight in an entertaining critique of Bridesmaid and other female-led comedies— which naturally featured a requisite gross-out scene.

The tweet apparently caught the attention of Boggs himself, who advised the characters to check themselves before they wreck themselves…

A comment that was met with a great rebuke from whoever’s behind the show’s Twitter account.

Of course, it’s worth noting that Boggs was drinking Miller Lite when he pulled off the feat as opposed to (SPOILER) ayahuasca-spiked rosé, which is a combination you typically want to avoid unless you want to truly experience what nightmares are made of.
