Hall of Fame baseball player Wade Boggs has reached an agreement with PBR for an alleged identity theft. The former pro slugger accused the beer company of using his likeness when creating its mascot, Cool Blue.

He even created a website to bring attention to the claims. #BoggsIsBlue jokingly called for Pabst Blue Ribbon to admit the truth.

Boggs believes that he and Cool Blue look eerily similar with both sporting a head of amber hair as well as Boggs’ patented mustache. In order to make things right, Boggs laid out a list of demands.

  1. PABST MUST ADMIT THE TRUTH, THAT BOGGS IS BLUE
  2. CREATE THE BOGGS DISCOUNT FOR MY FANS: $12 OFF FOR A 12X ALL-STAR
  3. NAME A BREWERY AFTER ME
  4. PRINT MY FACE ON BOTTLES
  5. PUBLISH MY WORLD-FAMOUS BOGGS CHICKEN RECIPE
  6. MAKE ME THE OFFICIAL PABST BLUE RIBBON SPOKESPERSON
“Sometimes the truth is worth fighting for,” Boggs said as he searched for justice. In the end, he got his wish.

This week, the MLB star was named a PBR spokesperson. Pabst Blue Ribbon released a hilarious statement on the agreement through its social media channels.

Was Wade Boggs the true inspiration behind the Cool Blue mascot? Who knows. But this campaign is both hilarious and fitting given the baseballer’s beer-drinking past.

The third baseman famously chugged 107 frosty beverages in a 24-hour period, cementing his name in drunkard’s lore. It’s now paying off with this latest venture. We’ll see how Wade Boggs handles being a PBR spokesperson moving forward.

With the new partnership, Pabst drinkers can receive a discount of up to $12 for a beer on Boggs.
