Frozen vegetables are a convenient alternative to fresh vegetables, as they last longer and are often more affordable. However, one man who buys Walmart’s Great Value frozen vegetables is now vowing to never eat the store’s grocery products again after finding chicken in his frozen bag of peppers and onions. He is now calling out the store for the “cross contamination” error.
“So, I know the recalls at Walmart and Great Value are bad,” TikTok creator @barelyky says, referring to the 12 food recalls the company has this year, including one for its frozen organic triple berry blend for potential E. coli contamination.
“I’m about to make tacos. I’m pouring onions and peppers to make the tacos,” he says. “Then, I see a piece of chicken come out of the bag with a pepper stuck to it,” he says, unveiling the chicken chunk in the pan surrounded by the vegetables.
“You could tell this is uncooked ’cause look at all that residue,” the content creator alleges, pointing to an opening on the chicken, where there are fluids seeping out.
However, this isn’t the only concern the Walmart shopper has. When he reopens the bag, some of the vegetables are frozen and stuck together. “You can tell something is wrong. I’m never eating from Walmart ever again,” he vows, disgusted. “I’m never getting peppers from them.”
Horrified, he turns to viewers for answers in the caption, Wwhat do i do? call the fda?? i’m gagged and stunned to speak… like what in the cross contamination!!!???”
‘STOP BUYING FOOD FROM WALMART’
Barelyky’s video garnered over 20,000 views. Instead of giving him answers, many offered their own advice on how to potentially avoid similar issues in the future.
“You gotta cut up your own peppers [and] onions. It only takes 5 mins,” one viewer suggested.
“I know some ppl may not have many options but I’m begging yall to STOP BUYING FOOD FROM WALMART,” a second urged.
“Throw that s— out. Chicken is not processed in the same plant as vegetables. That [looks] like a set up for a bag,” a third stated.
Meanwhile, others have also found unusual, harmless surprises in their frozen food.
“I had a frozen French fry in my frozen bag of onion rings,” one commenter shared.
“I got some peppers and onion mix that had peas and corn in it. I thought I was trippingggg,” a second revealed.

What Can He Do?
Uncooked chicken can spread all kinds of foodborne illnesses, such as Campylobacter, Salmonella, or Clostridium perfringens germs. In fact, chicken is the largest source of Salmonella, which causes 1 million people in the U.S. to get sick every year, according to the FDA. Because this is both cross-contamination and a manufacturing error, he could fill out an online form to report it and should have evidence on standby.
Walmart does also offer a 90-day return policy on its grocery items, per Tasting Table. As long as the shopper has his receipt and whatever is remaining of his Great Value Pepper & Onion Mix with the culprit inside as proof, he could head to that Walmart location and attempt to receive a refund.
