Over the course of the last month or so, comic book movie fans have been treated to a bevy of casting announcements when it comes to The Batman.
Since the beginning of October, Warner Bros. has steadily filled out the cast of The Batman with a murderers row of A-listers to join Robert Pattinson’s Bruce Wayne.
In addition to Pattinson as the iconic Dark Knight, The Batman will also star Colin Farrell as Oswald Cobblepot/Penguin, Zoe Kravitz as Selina Kyle/Catwoman, Paul Dano as Edward Nashton (not Nygma, at least not yet)/Riddler, John Turturro as Carmine Falcone, Jeffrey Wright as Commissioner Gordon, and Andy Serkis as Alfred Pennyworth.
Given the cast of characters that have been confirmed thus far, fans have begun to believe that The Batman will be drawing heavy inspiration from The Long Halloween, one of the most iconic Batman stories ever told.
And if the film is going to be based on The Long Halloween, then there’s another infamous Batman villain that has to appear: Harvey Dent/Two-Face. And according to recent rumors, Warner Bros. is reportedly eyeing Star Wars star Oscar Issac for the role.
According to the same sources that told us Mahershala Ali was being eyed for the Jim Gordon role before dropping out, and that a Green Lantern show is coming to HBO Max – both of which we now know to be true – Oscar Isaac is being considered for the part of Harvey Dent AKA Two-Face. Issac isn’t the only A-lister that has been rumored to be in contention for the role, as we reported earlier in November that Academy Award winner Matthew McConaughey was being eyed for the role of Gotham City’s district attorney.
At this point, the character of Harvey Dent appearing in The Batman seems like a certainty as the film continues to appear to be a live-action adaptation of The Long Halloween, which tells the story of how the bright-faced district attorney became the deranged criminal known as Two-Face.
