Let me just get this out of the way right now: NYC bagels are the best on the planet and it’s not even close. I’ve tried Montreal bagels. They’re good. But they’ve got NOTHING on NYC bagels.

I’ll admit that I’ve only spent a handful of days in Montreal so my experience is limited but even the Montreal-style bagel place in New York (Black Seed) pales in comparison to H&H Midtown Bagels East which is actually a misnomer because it’s located in Yorkville in the Upper East Side. I lived in Yorkville for 5 years and ate H&H approximately 2-4 times per week (on average) and I can say, with absolute certainty, that a freshly hot H&H bagel is the best bagel in the world…But I digress.

The team Great Big Story tried to get to the bottom of the Great Bagel Rivalry and determine once and for all which bagel is better, Montreal or New York. Here’s what they found:

You obviously know it by now but I’m biased here. I don’t accept these results. Even a plain (fresh) bagel from H&H with cream cheese or butter is out of this world. Their fresh Everything Bagel will bring you to a state of nirvana. Can the same be said about Montreal style bagels? Hell nah.
