A Whole Foods customer got a big time savings from the butcher after they pulled a switcheroo. How else can you save money at whole foods?

Grocery stores across the board continue to raise prices in most categories. The price of meat is one category that has been deeply impacted by inflation. Everyday shoppers are experiencing sticker shock by the rising costs. However, one Whole Foods shopper was delighted by a switcheroo that happened.

In a TikTok with over 48,800 views, Middie (@middiewash) reveals the meat switcheroo that took place and is grateful for the hookup by the Whole Foods employee.

The Whole Foods shopper showcases the meat package wrapped up. On the outside, the label spells out the details: 90/10 ground beef at $9.49 a pound. This package Middie got was one pound for $9.49. However, ground beef was not inside the package.

“I guess it is beef thank u nice WF employee,” the on-screen text reads.

Middie proceeds to open up the package and reveals that whole beefy steak inside. The piece of steak was thick, dense, and definitely cost more than $10.

“DEALLSSSSS FOR DAYSSS,” the post captions, as an audio of “Thank you baby” plays in the background.

‘Genuinely Saved $20’

Viewers in the comment section shared similar scenarios where Whole Foods employees hooked it up.

“Someone rang up GOOD turkey breast slices as cheap sliced cheese. Literally more than half off. Thank you WF employee,” one TikTok commenter wrote.

“I found this deal and I picked up like 20 packages. I had cutlets in the freezer for a very long time and didn’t have to make the mess of making cutlets—- which we all know is a pain in the a-. Sigh .. has never happened since,” another added.

“Genuinely saved $20,” a third chimed in.

How To Save Money At Whole Foods?

Whole Foods isn’t known for being the most budget-friendly grocery store, but savings can be found if you know where to look. While yes, it would be amazing to have a butcher hook it up by mislabeling the meat, that’s something you can’t bank on.

According to Whole Foods, there are many ways to save as discounts and sales happen weekly.

To begin, any merchandise with a yellow label will have a discount. Labels will either be on the packaging itself or on a sign in the aisle.

On the topic of sign colors, any blue sign will be special for Amazon Prime members. Amazon Prime members receive an additional 10% off sale items plus over 30 exclusive deals every week. These deals show up in the app, so shoppers can figure out what’s on sale before heading into the store.

Whole Foods also offers everyday savings when shopping for its own private label brand, 365 Brand. The 365 Brand offers everyday items at a cheaper price while not ignoring the Whole Foods standard.

Tuesday and Fridays are the best day to visit Whole Foods for extra deals. Tuesday specializes in discounts on ground beef, rotisserie chickens, soups, and more for easy weeknight meals. Friday will have deals on sushi, oysters, pizza and more for a special meal.

Paying with a Whole Foods credit card or Amazon Prime Visa earns 5% cashback as well.

Additionally, The Takeout suggests considering what time of year it is. It’s best to buy produce that is in season. If savings is top of mind, choose conventional produce over organic. Whatever you do, avoid the pre-chopped produce, as this is usually overpriced for what you get. Customers can also ask the bakery and the butcher for half portions as well.
