Workaholics star Blake Anderson was born in Sacramento County and raised in the Bay Area. Outside of his comedy career, he is a diehard Bay Area sports fan and has a pretty extensive knowledge of sports legends in the area.

The 42-year-old was a guest on Ike Barinholtz‘s Funny You Should Ask podcast recently and Ike quizzed Blake on his ball knowledge. This led to Blake Anderson sharing why Klay Thompson is his all-time favorite Bay Area sports figure.

Why Is Warriors Guard Klay Thompson Is Blake Anderson’s Favorite Bay Area Sports Star?

To be fair, picking Klay Thompson as one’s favorite Bay Area sports figure isn’t all that crazy. He has won 4 NBA Championships with the Golden State Warriors and played a crucial role in those championship runs.

But he was never the biggest star on the team. Klay is no Draymond and he’s certainly no Steph Curry. But if someone were to tell me Klay Thompson‘s their favorite player on the Warriors I wouldn’t really think twice about it. In Blake’s case though, he has the story to back up why Klay Thompson is his GOAT.

Essentially, when Workaholics was at its peak and the Warriors won a title, Blake Anderson got into the after party following one of their title wins. He then tried to get his brother in because as Blake says, the night would’ve been nothing without his brother.

Despite his stardom at the time, he wasn’t able to pull the requisite strings and ended up leaving. As they were walking out a vehicle pulled up and changed the night forever. Here is Blake’s story of the night Klay Anderson became his Bay Area hero:

Walking into the Warriors’ Championship party with Klay Thompson after being booted because you couldn’t get your brother into the club is an all-time move. Klay pulling ‘touch my hat, it’s still wet from champagne’ is such a small detail to the story but adds so much. I’ve never been in a champagne championship celebration like that myself and have never spent any time thinking about the tiny details of being soaked in the aftermath… and actually being happy about it.
