The Producers Of ‘The Office’ Are Creating A Work-From-Home Comedy Series

NBC

Ben Silverman and Paul Lieberstein, two of the executive producers of the beloved American version of The Office, are reportedly working on a “remote workplace comedy series”.

According to Deadline, Silverman and Lieberstein (who actually played Toby on The Office) are currently creating a workplace comedy that follows a “wunderkind boss who, in an effort to ensure his staff’s connectedness and productivity, asks them all to virtually interact and work face-to-face all day.”

The series is set to be produced by Big Breakfast, which is the comedy label at Silverman’s production company Propagate Content. In addition to Silverman and Lieberstein, Luke Kelly-Clyne and Kevin Healey of Big Breakfast and Rodney Ferrell of Propagate Content will also work on the series as executive producers.

“So many of us are jumping on daily Zoom meetings — for work and beyond. We are in a new normal and are personally navigating ways to remain connected and productive at work and in our home lives.”

“With the brilliant Paul Lieberstein at the helm, we think we have a series that not only brings humor and comfort during this troubling time but will also be an inventive and enduring workplace comedy for years to come,” Silverman said in a statement Deadline.

In addition to his work on The Office — the series won the Emmy Award for Best Comedy Series in 2006 — Lieberstein went oto executive produce on The Newsroom and Ghosted.

“Start with the office comedy, lose the office and you’re just left with comedy. The math works,” Lieberstein said.

At this time, no actors are currently attached to star in the series.
