A new trailer for the upcoming X-Men revival series, officially titled X-Men ’97, has been released ahead of its premiere on March 20.

Marvel Studios certainly isn’t shying away from how nostalgia-soaked the series will be, as the description for the teaser simply reads “It’ll just be like old times!”

The series is a continuation of the beloved and iconic X-Men cartoon from the 1990s, which helped popularize the characters among the millennial generation. X-Men: The Animated Series premiered on Fox in October 1992 and ran for five seasons until September 1997.

Here’s the official synopsis for X-Men ’97, via Marvel Studios:

X-Men’97 revisits the iconic era of the 1990s as The X-Men, a band of mutants who use their uncanny gifts to protect a world that hates and fears them, are challenged like never before, forced to face a dangerous and unexpected new future.

Many of the voice actors from the original series are returning, including Cal Dodd as Wolverine, Lenore Zann as Rogue, George Buza as Beast, Alison Sealy-Smith as Storm,  and Adrian Hough as Nightcrawler. Additional cast members include Ray Chase as Cyclops, Jennifer Hale as Jean Grey, AJ LoCascio as Gambit, Holly Chou as Jubilee, Isaac Robinson-Smith as Bishop, and Matthew Waterson as Magneto.

The first season of X-Men ’97 will premiere its first two episodes on Wednesday, March 20, and will then release its remaining eight weekly episodes. A second season of X-Men ’97 is already in development at Marvel Animation, as well.

X-Men ’97 is just one of three Marvel Studios projects confirmed to release in 2024, in addition to Deadpool & Wolverine on July 26 and the Agatha series in the Fall. The animated series Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man is also set to release this year, although a release date has not been released.

For context, between 2021 and 2023, Marvel released 13 TV series and 10 movies. Now 2024 will see just one movie and one live-action series released.
