‘Shazam’ Star Zachary Levi Is Working Overtime To Get On James Gunn’s Good Side

Earlier this week, following the news that The Rock’s Black Adam was not going to be used in James Gunn’s newly-formed DCU, Shazam! star Zachary Levi took to Twitter to address his future.

Despite the fact that both The Rock and Henry Cavill had been effectively fired by DC, Levi indicated that he was “all good.” His comments certainly aren’t all that surprising, considering Shazam! Fury of the Gods is set to hit theaters in March.

Perhaps trying to get on Gunn’s good side, Levi then took to Instagram Live to address the recent changes the franchise is undergoing.

“You have no idea the reasonings behind any of the decisions that are going on. The amount of conjecture and rumor mill and drama and nonsense that keeps getting spun around out there on Instagram and Twitter is laughable. It is unbelievably laughable,” Levi said on Instagram Live.

“I would just say be patient, and give them some space and some time to try and really make something special. And I think something that DC deserves to have, and something that Snyder tried to do and it just didn’t ultimately materialize,” Levi said. “They’re making decisions based on what is best for Warner Bros., DC, that entire studio and entity and trying to make as many fans, as much of an audience, happy as they can.”

Levi continued, saying that fans need to give Gunn and Safran a break:

“If you’re out there and really like what happened before, you can do that, that’s fine. But realize that there’s a lot of people who didn’t like those things, and we should always be trying to tap into as much audience as possible, make as many people happy as possible,” Levi continued.

“That’s what we’re in entertainment for, and that’s what I think Peter and James are trying to do. And it’s not an easy position, they got handed all these things that were already in a lot of conflict. So guys, just f***ing give ’em a break. Take it easy. Take a breath. It’s the holidays, for god’s sake. Just go enjoy what the holidays are, give them some time to enjoy the holidays, and let’s see what happens on the other side of this.”

In addition to Levi, Shazam! Fury of the Gods — which hits theaters on March 17 — also stars Asher Angel, Jack Dylan Grazer, Rachel Zegler, Adam Brody, Ross Butler, Meagan Good, Lucy Liu, Djimon Hounsou, and Helen Mirren.

The film will be one of the final in the DCEU, which is being rebooted entirely now that Gun and co-CEO Peter Safran have been hired to run DC Studios. Next year will also see the release of The Flash — which will drop its first trailer during the Super Bowl — in June and Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom on Christmas.
