Bryan Cranston Says He Definitely Wants To Play Walter White On ‘Better Call Saul’ With One Caveat

This is awesome news for Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul fans.

While appearing on The Rich Eisen Show Bryan Cranston says that he is “all in” for having Walter White show up at some point on Better Call Saul. He just wants it to be done right.

“You know, here’s the thing. I owe Vince Gilligan so much. He was my champion to get this role. If they were to call me and say, ‘We have this idea, we’d like…’ I would say: ‘Yes, you don’t have to finish the pitch, I’m there, what do you want me to do?'”

“I know how careful they are and proprietary they are with those characters and those storylines, and it wouldn’t be something, ‘Oh, isn’t that kind of a stunt casting kind of thing.’ It would be something kind of unique and obscure and creative, and I’m all in.”

Of course, Better Call Saul takes place prior to the story of Breaking Bad so we’d be dealing with Walter White in his pre-Heisenberg days.

Cranston also mentioned that he’s been asked to direct an episode of the show, but isn’t sure he wants to do it because he doesn’t want any spoilers.

“I’m debating whether I want to or not because I’m a fan of the show. There’s a part of me that says that would kind of kill it for me as a fan, to peek behind the curtain.”

“I know nothing about it other than what every other fan knows. I don’t want to hear anything about it, I want to watch it when it comes out and I’m tuned in.”

All in all this is very good news for fans of both shows. Just imagine what they could do with Cranston as Walter White in his pre-cancer days. Now, hopefully, we won’t have to imagine much longer. It would so much fun.
