The Late Carrie Fisher To Appear In ‘Star Wars: Episode IX’
Carrie Fisher passed away in December after collapsing on a flight back to Los Angeles from London. She had just finished filming for the upcoming Star Wars: The Last Jedi. For fans of Princess Leia, you have not seen the last of her because Fisher will return in Star Wars: Episode IX.
Carrie’s brother, Todd Fisher, confirmed that Princess Leia will appear in the 9th episode of Star Wars. Carrie’s daughter Billie Lourd has given Lucasfilm permission to use recently shot footage of the actress in another Star Wars flick.
“Both of us were like, ‘Yes, how do you take her out of it?’ And the answer is you don’t,” Todd told the New York Daily News.
General Leia Organa will return to the silver screen and it won’t be done with CGI.
Fisher said his sister was “as much a part of it as anything and I think her presence now is even more powerful than it was, like Obi Wan — when the saber cuts him down he becomes more powerful.”
“I’m not the only part in that equation, but I think the people deserve to have her,’ Todd said. “She’s owned by them.”
