10 Reasons You Gotta Respect The Man Of A Thousand Voices, Hank Azaria
If you don’t know who Hank Azaria is, wake the f*ck up. He’s been the voice of hundreds of Simpsons characters for the past thirty years, dude. Moe the bartender, Chief Wiggum, Professor Frink – the list will make your ego take a dirt nap. But, did you know he’s also voiced characters on Family Guy and the animated Spider-Man cartoon series? Guy’s voice-box is indestructible.
Hank’s also been playing scene-stealing roles in Friends, Ray Donovan, Along Came Polly, Dodgeball, Night at the Museum 2, and many more. His appearances on Inside the Actors Studio, The Daily Show (with Jon Stewart), Ellen, The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, Conan, and others should be required viewing for other talk show guests. They’re real good and always produce something unexpected.
Personally, I’m pulling for Hank to get into baseball broadcasting. He did play-by-play for memorable Mets moments (since he’s a Mets fan) as Simpsons characters. Why can’t that happen every game?
My favorite is his Funny or Die video where he plays legendary broadcaster Jim Brockmire, whose career is cut short because he caught his wife cheating on him. No joke, I almost blacked out from laughter. I wasn’t producing sound. Just convulsing. “Big, fat, cheating vagina” will get me every single damn time. And, now it looks like my wish has been granted because IFC will be turning that into a series called Brockmire. Get ready to pad your library of funny one-liners and over-the-top quotes.
