It Doesn’t Get Any More American Than ‘The Star-Spangled Banner’ Sung By Movies Because Patriotism Is Oscar-Worthy
Just because Independence Day was July 4th doesn’t mean ya stop pumping out the American pride and vibes on July 5th. Here’s a compilation of movie scenes featuring The Star-Spangled Banner…
The national anthem in The Dark Knight Rises was spooky as all hell. I’m pretty sure that lil’ kid is like distant cousins with Damien from The Omen. Sure, he seems harmless – like the mama’s boy who gets his lunch handed to him on the schoolyard – but he’s cookin’ up something fierce to get payback.
I keep forgetting how great a movie A League Of Their Own was and is. I’ve never laughed harder than when that fat kid taunts Tom Hanks’ character and gets a mitt in the grill. Classic Jimmy Dugan.
Honestly, there’s never been a more symbolically satisfying version of our national anthem than this kid who got the hiccups but won’t stop, can’t stop.
For anyone who continues to threaten to move to Canada if Donald Trump gets elected President, maybe this video of a cop stepping in last minute to save the day will change your mind. Not that we should change your mind, we’re probably better off without ya, ya hoser.
The video – made by Slate – features clips from the following films:
One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest
Rush Hour 3
The Dark Knight Rises
Bang the Drum Slowly
The Naked Gun: From the Files of the Police Squad!
Bad News Bears
A League of Their Own
Hearts and Souls
National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation
The Sum of All Fears
Let’s get serious. Nothing sets the tone better than the national anthem. Whitney Houston crushed it at Super Bowl XXV and we got one of the best Super Bowls ever played. It makes me wonder how Roseanne Barr made it out of the stadium in one piece after butchering it back in the day.
