Finally! It’s here! Rejoice Star Wars nerds. Episode VIII has a working title that is, wait, yeah, about as basic as The Force Awakens.
So in classic Star Wars fashion we have yet another super generic title for our dark middle chapter: Fall of the Resistance. But hey, that’s alright. It’s the Star Wars way and it works. Look at the best sequel of all time, The Empire Strikes Back. One of the most basic titles ever, but it works beautifully. Not to mention an amazing film. Storytelling 101 tells us that this middle chapter will be the dark fall of the series, teeing up a triumphant revival third entry. Just like The Godfather: Part II and Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom, we will probably see our protagonists experience a lot of pain and suffering in this movie.
Bring. It. On.
The above picture was shot before a Star Wars celebration event coming up in the middle of July in Europe. Now, the one thing we need to remember here is that this title could just be the decoy. But, the same thing was thought about The Force Awakens and that title ended up sticking. Either way, it’s exciting to see all the production start to ramp up.
Star Wars VIII and IX are directed by Rian Johnson (Looper, Breaking Bad) and are almost guaranteed to be winners judging by his past successes.
