Star Wars Is Expected To Rake In So Much Cash It Will Make You Obscenely ILL

To the surprise of no one, Star Wars: The Force Awakens is one of the most highly anticipated movie releases in at least a decade; probably longer.

The latest installment of the George Lucas franchise has already racked up more than $100 million in advanced ticket sales, well more than double what the The Hunger Games did in 2011, and 20 percent more than Jurassic World, which was no slouch at the box office earlier this year. And that’s just pre-sale tickets we’re talking about.

When you put the whole damn thing into the pot — domestic box office sales, international box office sales, and a sea of consumer products — the beast of a brand is expected to pull in roughly $8 billion. Think about that for a second: EIGHT BILLION DOLLARS.

Well god damn. And god bless consumer products — especially that officially licensed Stormtrooper getup hanging in your closet — because that’s where the 75% of the $8 billion is expected to come from.
