‘Suicide Squad’ Director David Ayer Debunked A Popular Theory About Joker’s True Identity

Remember in Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice when we saw a shot of Robin’s suit defaced and torn up by what appeared to be The Joker? Oh right, some of you didn’t see it. Okay, a lot of you didn’t.

Anyway, there was a popular fan theory floating around that because of this scene The Joker in Suicide Squad is in fact Jason Todd, the second Robin.

The main reason for this theory was that the bullet holes in Robin’s suit seemed to match up with scars on The Joker in various promo pics.

Sadly, for anyone buying that, director David Ayer when asked what most ridiculous rumor he’s heard about the film said, “That the Joker is Jason Todd. It ain’t the case. He’s not.”

However, as MTV astutely points out, in Batman Beyond: Return of The Joker, The Joker did brainwash Tim Drake, another Robin, into taking over for him after he died. So the idea that he could be Jason Todd in Suicide Squad wasn’t completely off-the-wall.

And since we love to speculate about things such as this, how about we do a little more?
