Warren G And Kenny G Kill It With Their Mashup Of ‘Regulate’ On Jimmy Kimmel

On Monday night, Jimmy Kimmel Live was nuthin’ but a “G” thang.

Jimmy Kimmel will occasionally put together a MashUp Monday, where two artists of completely different genres will perform a song together. Previous efforts have included Weezer and ZZ Top, Haim with the illustrious Morris Day (Unfortunately no motherfucking Time) and rapper Aloe Blacc paired with R&B group Blackstreet. On this night it featured old school rapper Warren G accompanied by jazz legend Warren G.

The unlikely duo’s #MashUpMonday song was the classic hip hop joint “Regulate,” The 1994 smash hit from the Above The Rim soundtrack. Unfortunately the celebrated hip hop singer Nate Dogg is no longer with us to provide the sick hook.

Kenny G was no stranger to the rap anthem because it samples Michael McDonald’s “I Keep Forgettin’ (Every Time You’re Near).” The jazz master says, “It was a record that I always loved, from being a kid and my parents playing it when they had their company of friends over.”

REGULATORS!!! MOUNT UP!
