Someone Figured Out What Sansa’s Mysterious Letter Said In The Most Recent Episode Of ‘Game Of Thrones’

SPOILERS, LIKE USUAL, DUH. WHY DID YOU CLICK THIS IF YOU DIDN’T WANT SPOILERS? ARE YOU A GLUTTON FOR PUNISHMENT? DO YOU LIKE RUINING THINGS FOR YOURSELF? DO YOU LIKE BEING A LITTLE TWAT WHO COMPLAINS ABOUT SPOILERS? WHY DO I HAVE TO KEEP SAYING “SPOILERS” ON THRONES POSTS, Y’ALL SHOULD BE LEARNED BY NOW.

Anyway.

Assuming you’re up to date with this season of Thrones (and if not, please refer to the bolded paragraph above before continuing), you know that Sansa and Jon Snow are in a sticky situation – they have to reclaim Winterfell to save Rickon and reclaim the north, but their army is a bit of a dud: 62 soldiers from Bear Island and a rag-tag group of wildlings don’t equate to a successful attack. The Umbers have already turned them down, the Karstarks are a lost cause and who knows about the rest…so where does that leave them?

Not in a very good place, clearly – which is why we saw Sansa writing a letter to an unknown recipient asking for help. Logically, she is writing to Littlefinger and asking for his support in reclaiming Winterfell, as he (not) oh-so-subtly mentioned the fact that he’s now in control of the Vale. But how do we know for sure?

We don’t. Er, we didn’t – that is until Reddit user CreepyPancakes enhanced screenshots from Sunday’s episode. “I’ve traced the legible words in black, and the barely legible (plus educated guesses on the missing ones, based on surrounding words) in red,” he explains, “’north’ and ‘rewarded’ are legible in other shots of the letter, such as when she stamps it. Question marks indicate a dubious word, but the most likely”:

The legible parts read: “[…] to protect me. Now you have a chance to fulfill your promise. […] Knights of the Vale are under your command. Ride north for Winterfell. Lend us your aid and I shall see to it that you are [well/properly] rewarded.”

So, the sneaky Stark girl is indeed summoning a man she claimed to want no more contact with: Petyr “Littlefinger” Baelish.

[UPDATE] Thanks to /u/Ichtragebrille for spotting “see that you are well rewarded”. I initially thought the letter ended with “see that you are true to your word”. A multitude of redditors have helped me see that the final part of the first sentence seems to say “to protect me”. Thanks for your help, everyone.

Indeed, it appears that Sansa is asking Littlefinger (or maybe Sweet Robin, although that little titty-sucking n00b probably can’t spell his own name, let alone read) for help. Knowing that Littlefinger is playing the game of thrones for his own self-interests, I think it’s safe to say that we can expect the knights of the Vale to join the Stark cause before the end of the season – most likely (read: definitely) during Snowbowl AKA “The Battle of the Bastards.”

We’re down to the last three episodes of the season, and they’re each at least around an hour long – GET PUMPED.
