Last week Kanye West blew up about Jay-Z for all sorts of reasons: How there will never be a Watch The Throne 2, disagreements in their business partnership with Tidal, not coming over to the house to visit Kim after her robbery in Paris, and not making a play date between their children. IMO It’s a pretty silly tirade and another example of Kanye acting out, all things considered.
There’s now a response from Jay-Z, but it’s in the form of a quote about a conversation from his Roc-A-Fella Records co-founder Kareem “Biggs” Burke. Page Six caught up with him at a Soho pop-up shop celebrating the 20th anniversary of Jay-Z’s iconic album, “Reasonable Doubt”. Like everyone else in the world, Jay-Z misses the old Kanye:
Burke told us: “The last I saw [West], he spoke really highly of Jay. I’m not sure about the relationship at this point. I spoke to Jay [after Kanye’s rant] and we’re both just like, ‘We miss the old Kanye.’ From what I know of Kanye, he’s usually really honest. So it sounds like something he’s going through right now. He may [say] something like that, and then three weeks later he may be back to, ‘That’s my brother.’ But at this point, with everybody’s career, we’re a little too old for rap beef.”
I hope this is all Jay-Z says about it. Just goes the high road and ignores Kanye’s trolling. Because we ALL miss the old Kanye.
What I’d do to go back to a time where Kanye pumped out jam after jam like this:
