Last night on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon Kendrick Lamar appeared as the musical guest and dropped ‘Untitled #2’, a new song that I’m willing to call his hottest track to date. You don’t have to be a fan of Kendrick Lamar’s or Hip-Hop to recognize that this is true greatness unfolding before your eyes:
Back in 2012 I was lucky enough to see a private concert put on by AXE at the planetarium inside of NYC’s Museum of Natural History starring Kendrick Lamar (no joke, astronaut Buzz Aldrin was there too). It was a one man concert, and at the time he was only really known in close-knit circles as his career hadn’t taken off yet. A few months after that Kendrick went on to hit the next level, dropping his first album from a major studio, and the rest is history. He’s now one of the highest grossing names in Hip-Hop, and everything he touches turns to gold.
My only regret about seeing him back in 2012 at the planetarium is that I should’ve taken in the moment more and realized what was happening. How was I supposed to know that the man up on that stage would go on to become the biggest name in rap? I was probably playing around on my phone, not paying attention to Kendrick and trying to get a pic of Buzz Aldrin…smdh
