Let’s be honest, it’s always time to get serious about shredding.

Because while the dad bod was in fashion a few years ago, we haven’t heard a damn thing about it lately.

So if you haven’t started your most recent shredding program, it’s time to get your butt in gear.

Just in case you’re unsure of where to start, and you find yourself swimming in all the conflicting info on the Internet, here are 6 nutrition tips guaranteed to help you get your diet in order.

Calories do matter

I don’t care if you’re eating all clean foods, paleo, vegan, or any other diet – Calories are king and always will be.

Get your calories in check first and foremost, and everything else will work far better.

Eat plenty of dead animal flesh

Brotein, otherwise known as protein, is far-and-away the most loved macronutrient out there, and for good reason. It’s delicious.

On top of being delicious, it also helps rebuild muscle tissue and ramp up metabolism, making it a go-to option when it comes to dropping fat.

Watch out for nut and nut butter

For some reason, peanut butter has become the mascot of the fitness world. Fitness people seem to love peanut butter.

I mean, peanut butter is good but is it worth obsessing over? No, it’s not that good.

And while they’re nutritional powerhouses, nuts and nut butter are extremely calorie-dense foods because of how much fat they contain.

It’s incredibly easy for people to overeat these foods and stall their diet without even being aware.

Remember to eat these in moderation.

Satisfying your cravings without packing on a ton of calories that can be allocated to more nutritionally dense foods.

Don’t eat so much food from a box or a bag

Look, junk food is delicious. That’s a fact.

And we can all play macro Tetris and fit cereal into our daily calorie intake. We all know that.

But the fact is when you start getting more calories from whole foods you’ll be more satiated, have a better nutrient profile, and feel better.

Also, I’m well aware rice comes in a box and bag. Don’t be a semantic jerk. You know what I mean here.

Eat the rainbow

Unfortunately, I’m not talking about Skittles.

You need to be eating a wide variety of colors from fruits and vegetables.

Not only will these foods help keep you fuller while keeping calories low, but they’ll also provide a complete hit of micronutrients to keep you healthy.

You’re not going to be perfect all the time, so don’t stress about it

There’s no point in trying to be perfect 100% of the time

Unless you’ve got a high-level physique goal like a photoshoot or bodybuilding competition, don’t let yourself become a diet snob.

Enjoy nights out with your lady, family, and friends. Go to the pool party and get smashed.

Just follow the above rules 90% of the time and you’re bound to look awesome.
