Last week, Toyota accidentally unveiled the 2020 Supra by mistakenly leaking a hype video prematurely. After years of speculation, Toyota has officially released the photos, specs, trim levels, and price.
The 2020 Toyota Supra features a turbocharged 3.0-liter inline-six engine and an eight-speed racing-style paddle shift automatic transmission made in Austria by BMW. The Supra is basically the Japanese version of the BMW Z4, especially since it shares the same platform. However, the Z4 has a less powerful turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine.
The new Supra’s engine pumps out 335 horsepower (the 2019 BMW Z4 has 382 HP) and 365 lb-ft of torque. Performance wise, the 2020 Supra has a top speed is 155 mph and will zoom zero to 60 mph in 4.1 seconds, making it Toyota’s quickest car to-date. The Supra weighs in at 3,397 pounds.
There are two trim levels, the base 3.0 Supra and the 3.0 Premium Supra, both have the same engine, adaptive suspension, an active rear differential, and launch control. The base Supra has a price of $50,920 (It is priced only $225 higher than the Z4 30i) and the 3.0 Premium will cost you $54,920 including destination charge.
The base Supra 3.0 features:
- 6.5-inch display screen with Bluetooth and USB
- Faux-suede power seats with memory
- Forward-collision warning and automated emergency braking
- Automatic high-beams
- Dual-zone automatic climate control
- Adaptive dampers
- Rain-sensing wipers
- Keyless entry and push-button start
The 3.0 Premium includes all of the features of the base plus:
- 8.8-inch touchscreen with navigation and Apple CarPlay
- 12-speaker JBL audio system
- Color Head-Up Display (HUD)
- Heated leather seats
There is also a special 2020 Toyota Supra Launch Edition, which is a limited edition version that will only be available to the first 1,500 customers in the United States. This model will have an MSRP of $56,180 and come equipped with red mirror caps, black 19-inch wheels, red leather interior (only available with black or white exterior), and a commemorative plaque on the dashboard with the number in the series. The Launch Edition Supra is expected at dealerships this summer. The other models will follow in the months after.

The very first Supra to roll off the production line will be auctioned off for charity on January 19th in Arizona. This special edition vehicle will be a one-off combination of the Phantom Matte Gray exterior with the Launch Edition’s red mirrors, black wheels, and red interior. The car will feature the VIN number 20201 and have a carbon-fiber badge on the passenger dash numbered “1` of 1,500.”
