Alberta Premium Cask Strength Rye

I’ve got some excellent news for you gentlemen, arguably the best whiskey made in Canada is coming to the USA after being sold out in Canada for months. The Alberta Premium Cask Strength Rye has absolutely killed it in the most prestigious whiskey competitions and won Double Gold at the San Francisco World Spirits Competition, it won Best Cask Strength at the CanadiahnWhisky Awards, and it won Gold at the Canadian Whisky Awards. Alberta Premium was also named ‘Distillery of the Decade’ by the Canadian Whisky Awards. Suffice it to say this is one of the best distilleries in the world right now.
The Alberta Premium Cask Strength Rye is 100% rye that’s best sipped neat or on the rocks. I found a lot of spice on the back end while sipping this which led to a smooth finish, one that I didn’t really expect. It clocks in at 127.8-proof which is quite high but it sips so smooth I wasn’t put off by the high ABV at all. It carries an aroma of woody oak and vanilla, has notes of caramel, vanilla, a little chocolate, and the spice of rye and black currant. The complex finish is warm with vanilla, dark fruit, and spice. This extremely limited release has a suggested retail price of $69.95 (750ml) and if you can find it at that price you should 100% buy it. In fact, if you find it on the secondary market after it’s sold out at higher prices you should still grab it because this is truly an exquisite Rye that Alberta Premium’s blessed us with here in America.
