New York-based Alex Mill was co-founded by two veterans in the men’s clothing industry, Alex Drexler and Somsack Sikhounmuong.
Drexler was the former CEO of Gap and J.Crew, as well as the founder of Old Navy and Madewell. Somsack was the previous design director at J.Crew (as well as Madewell prior to that position).
Together at Alex Mill they’ve crafted fresh, timeless garments with a modern twist. Take for example this Brushed Wool Popover Fleece.
A perfect layer for fall and winter styling, this fleece is made out of 60% wool, 20% polyester, 15% nylon, 5% other fibers.
What’s unique about the piece is the texture of the brushed wool Casentino blend. The small bunches of fabric give an added level of dimension to outfits that otherwise wouldn’t have existed.
This is the perfect example that the wheel doesn’t always have to be invented when it comes to clothing. By opting for a simple material change, Alex Mill has taken an average popover fleece and made it a garment that will draw in discussion.
