How Safe Would You Feel Riding In This Autonomous Luxury Flying Taxi By Aston Martin?

Aston Martin has designed a flying car called the Volante Vision Concept, an autonomous hybrid-electric vehicle that’s basically a luxury flying taxi they envision being used for commuting in the future.

Uhhh, don’t know about you, but they lost me at “autonomous” and “flying.” Thanks, Elon.

Don’t get me wrong. I am all for the idea of flying cars. We’ve been promised them for decades. And riding in anything created by Aston Martin, as we well know, would be a dream. But an autonomous flying car? I love you, Aston Martin, but no.

Aston Martin President and CEO Dr. Andy Palmer said about the Volante Vision Concept, “With the population in urban areas continuing to grow, congestion in towns and cities will become increasingly demanding. We need to look at alternative solutions to reduce congestion, cut pollution and improve mobility. Air travel will be a crucial part in the future of transportation, the Volante Vision Concept is the ultimate luxury mobility solution.”

“Humans have always spent on average, one hour commuting to and from work. The distance we live from our workplace has been determined by the methods of transportation available. The Volante Vision Concept will enable us to travel further with our hourly commute, meaning we are able to live further away from where we work. Cities will grow, and towns that are today too far away from cities to be commutable will become suburban.”

“With Aston Martin and our ‘dream team’ of British innovation across industry and academia, we are positioned to change the future of transportation, giving our customers a new dimension of freedom.”

If I ain’t driving it, I ain’t riding in it. At least without SOMEONE human driving it.

Eh, this thing will probably never get made anyway. How long have we been promised flying cars again?

But if it does, here’s what we can expect. The Volante Vision Concept will have space for three passengers and will, supposedly, provide fast, efficient and congestion free luxurious travel.

Take a look and you tell me if this is something you’d climb into for a flight with no actual pilot.
