Chevy’s 2017 Camaro ZL1 Is A 640-HP Fire-Breathing Beast That Will Melt The Streets

Think you need a German Porsche or an Italian Ferrari to get a ferocious vehicle that will tear the tar off the road? Think again. Witness the fury and beauty that is the 2017 Chevy Camaro ZL1.

This American bad-ass flaunts 640-horsepower, making it the most powerful Camaro ever. All that power is supplied by a supercharged 6.2-liter V8 cranking out 640 ft-lbs of torque taken from the Corvette Z06. You can select either a six-speed manual or General Motors’ all new ten-speed automatic, complete with paddle shifters.

The ZL1 will be 200 pounds lighter than its predecessor thanks to GM’s Alpha platform, which promises better handling. It features 20-inch forged aluminum wheels and Goodyear Eagle F1 Supercar tires with a special compound developed specifically for the ZL1 so it sticks to the road.

This fire-breathing beast has a Magnetic Ride suspension, an electronic limited-slip differential, and performance traction management. To achieve this the car will send the power to the rear wheels via an electronic limited slip differential equipped with Chevy’s adjustable Performance Traction Management system.

The new ZL1 goes on sale later this year, prices are yet to be determined, but it should have much lower costs than comparable European competitors with similar mind-blowing performance.
