I figured I’d mix things up a little bit today and throw together some must-have items for those nights when you want to toss a few back. We’ve got all the normal (and boozy) everyday carry essentials including single barrel bourbon, some drinking essentials, and all of the apparel and accessories to go along with it. You can shop the full collection or pick and choose your favorites by following any of the links below!
I wanted to put this really cool opportunity from Baker’s on your radar today, the Baker’s Single Barrel Journey. As you already know, every bottle of Baker’s is now a single barrel expression. TO get in on this action you go to the ‘Baker’s Single Barrel Journey‘ landing page and put in the Barrel ID form the neck tag of your Baker’s Bourbon and you’ll be able to discover the journey of your whiskey from start to finish in a way that’s never been available until now.
You can see specifically where it was aged on the property, learn about the distinctive characteristics which made your bottle unique, and you can go ‘behind the barrel’ for a limited time and get a picture of YOU (yes, you) posting with Baker Beam in front of the rackhouse where your bottle came from and an exclusive tasting with Freddie Noe. Since everyone can’t visit the distillery this year they’ve found this incredibly immersive and unique way to humanize each bottle with the story behind it. They were kind enough to send me a preview of this experience and I had to share it with you gentlemen because it’s pretty darn cool and it will make an awesome holiday gift to yourself or someone in your life.
Here we have the Astorflex Kamuflex Slip-Ons ($135) which are a suede leather casual slip-on shoe that’s perfect for year-round wear. I’ve found myself reaching for slip-ons every morning this week for some reason so I thought I’d include these today. They are handmade in Northern Italy from the same family that’s been making this brand of shoes for six generations and these feature an ergonomic footbed lined with vegetable-tanned calfskin and recycled wood + rubber soles.
The Grunt Style Basic Poly Quarter Zip ($54) is a perfect layer for this time of year. It comes in Black, Navy, or Charcoal and it’s made from extra soft 100% filament polyester. It is moisture-wicking in case you want to wear it on the golf course or out for a run and has antimicrobial properties to keep you feeling and smelling fresh. This 1/4 zip is also proudly printed in Carol Stream, IL if you prefer American made products.
You can pair that 1/4 zip with the Wellen Organic Stretch Denim Jeans ($98) which come in a Light Wash (pictured here) and a Dark Wash. The denim is made from 99% organic cotton but an added 1% spandex to give them the perfect amount of stretch and comfort.
Here we check out a unique everyday carry pocket knife from Deejo Knives ($70) which features a dope custom blade tattoo. These are some of the most customizable knives on the planet, they are super light, and ideal for everyday carry. They allow you to pick a unique ‘tattoo’ to make the knife your own as well as choosing the blade and handle features.
Next we’ve got The Mehlville by The James Brand ($75) in Brass. I’ve featured this EDC tool in Black and Silver Stainless before the Brass is new and immediately caught my attention. It has a bottle opener notch, is machined from a solid block of brass, and is incredibly lightweight so it will never weigh down your pockets. The precision carabiner gate is easy to open and close with action as smooth as butter.
You’ll need an exquisite set of whiskey glasses to sample that exceptional single barrel and you can do no better than The Norlan Glass (Set of 2) ($48). The Norlan Glass was engineered with an inner bowl that’s shaped to scientifically improve the aroma and taste of your whiskey and the outer wall was designed to ergonomically fit your hand perfectly so you can sit back in a comfy chair and sip your whiskey in peace. This set comes with two glasses so you can enjoy your whiskey with a friend or you can purchase the glass individually.
If you’re like me, you often enjoy diluting the high-proof whiskeys (or chilling cocktails) with a large ice sphere. The Viski Ice Sphere Mold ($20) includes four freezable ice molds. They recommend ~4 hours to freeze the ice molds and the silicone ice shells are easy to remove. You can also toss in items like citrus slices or herbs to mix up your cocktails.
We round it out today with the The Cache River Bit Driver ($60) which is an incredibly handy everyday carry tool to have with you. This is one of those items that’s never nearby when I need it. The low-profile form factor designed specifically for everyday pocket carry and it features lightweight aluminum construction with a durable anodized finish. It has ball bearing pivot for smooth driving action and the magnetic bit attachment point keeps it firmly in place when it’s in use. As I said, this is just a clutch tool to have with you most times.
Last up today is the 1733 VX21 Ripstop Bookbag ($180) in Coyote but it also comes in a Red/Black color. This incredibly durable and water-resistant backpack is made from a performance fabric that’s a laminate sandwich of a DWR coating, a 210 denier nylon, an x-grid, a non-porous film, and a polyester taffeta backing. It has all the bells and whistles you want in an everyday backpack including a large storage space, EDC pockets, reinforced seams, and the fabric is lightweight so this bag won’t weigh you down. They’ve managed to make an incredibly strong backpack that weighs less than the competition, it’s excellent.
