It’s been that way since 1932, ever since Max Gitman left Brooklyn and started the Ashland Shirt and Pajama Company in a coal town called Ashland in Pennslyvania. Max’s sons, Alfred and Sheldon, helped him run the factory. In 1978 Gitman Bros. was established as a brand.
