The Mercedes-AMG Project ONE Hypercar Is Basically A 1,000+ HP Street Legal Formula One Car

One day I would like to see someone, it would have to be someone super-rich, somehow get all of the hypercars together that are somehow street legal like the 1,177hp Zenvo TSR-S, the 1,500hp Koenigsegg Regera, the 1,500hp Bugatti Chiron Sport, and the 1,100hp/1,000kg Aston Martin Valkyrie AMR Pro, all in one place and running around on one track.

Oh yeah, throw in the upcoming Mercedes-AMG Project One hypercar too since it’s basically a street legal Formula One car with two seats instead of one.

That’s not much of an exaggeration either since it utilizes an ACTUAL FORMULA ONE ENGINE. As in, the same engine that F1 drivers Lewis Hamilton and Nico Rosberg used to win world championships. Yeah

“Motorsport is not an end in itself for us. Faced with intense competition, we develop technologies from which our production vehicles also subsequently benefit. We are drawing on our experiences and successes from three constructors’ and drivers’ world championships to bring Formula One technology to the road for the first time: in Mercedes-AMG Project ONE,” says Dr. Dieter Zetsche, Chairman of the Board of Management of Daimler AG and Head of Mercedes-Benz Cars.

“The Mercedes-AMG Project ONE is the first Formula One car with MOT approval. Our highly efficient hybrid assembly stems from motor racing and the electrically powered front axle generates a fascinating mixture of performance and efficiency. With a system output of over 1,000hp and a top speed beyond 217mph (350 km/h) this hypercar handles exactly as it looks: it takes your breath away,” Ola Källenius says, Member of the Daimler AG Board of Management responsible for Group Research and Mercedes-Benz Cars Development.

Imagine rolling up to the grocery store in this…

Sadly, they were only using the electric mode so we didn’t get to HEAR the car on the street as well as see it. Still, it’s quite drool-worthy don’t you think? The ability to go from 0 to 124mph in under 6.0 seconds also doesn’t hurt.

And if you don’t think Mercedes-AMG is serious about someone using this car for everyday use, don’t tell them that. Because the Project ONE also comes with two compartments on the left and right behind the seats where small items can be stowed, air conditioning, power windows, and their COMAND infotainment system. You just may have to make more than one trip to the grocery story to bring home all your stuff. Which, really, with this car is not a problem.
