Road Trip Diary #1: Why I’m Grilling, Chilling, and Adventuring With Ninja This Summer

Is there any phrase in English more electrifying than “roadddddd tripppppp?”

Not in my book.

I love a good road trip. So, this spring I’m embarking on an epic one. As BroBible’s token grilling and outdoor junkie, I’m hitting the road across the United States, all powered by Ninja Kitchen’s line of innovative outdoor products.

The mission? To showcase how life is better outdoors with Ninja this adventure season.

I’m hitting cities like Denver, Austin, and Nashville – and all points between – to use products like the Ninja Woodfire™ Grill and Smoker and FrostVault™ Cooler in the wild, demonstrating how Ninja’s products can take summer fun to the next-level this year.

Buckle up.

Our epic saga kicked off in Los Angeles at PenMar Golf Course in Venice Beach. The evening was a breezy send-off where everyone got to check out these Ninja goodies in action while knocking back some drinks and grub.

First up on my prep list was whipping up a batch of teriyaki beef jerky using the Ninja Woodfire™ Outdoor Oven. Thanks to its dehydrate mode dialed in at 150 degrees, I turned a big butcher’s cut of top loin wagyu beef into a delicious teriyaki beef jerky without breaking the bank. One cook made almost 3lbs. of jerky to take on the first leg of the trips. Watch my video recap and learn how I did it on the BroBible Instagram.

Next, I took the Ninja FrostVault™ Cooler down to the beach for a day for a spin on the sands of California. On a perfect spring day, my 50Q Ninja FrostVault™ kept my drinks frosty and snacks dry. The drawers built for cold, dry storage are a game-changer for keeping food cold on the go without mixing them in with your drinks.

While at the beach, I also blended a killer Acai smoothie with my Ninja Blast™ Blender. Delicious and packed with good vibes — just what you need after some beach yoga or surf sessions.

Then it was finally time to hit the road.

The plan? Barrel from Los Angeles to Denver in just three days, carving out time to quickly soak in the awe of places like Moab and Zion Park, where the trails are rugged and the goats are friendly. I grabbed my Ninja FrostVault™ Cooler — freshly stickered up and looking sharp — and hit the road, iced down with cold beverages and sandwiches for the haul.

I have a goal: I don’t just want this cooler to carry snacks during this epic adventure; I want it to carry stories.

Zion was a blast. Personal highlight? Waking up to goats and a serene 16-mile trek through Zion Canyon on a Monday morning on an electric bike. Post-bike ride, I chilled with a leftover sandwich, kept ice-cold in my trusty cooler and soaked in the view, then pushed on to Moab, Utah. I’ve always wanted to visit Moab and Arches National Park, so this was the perfect excuse en route on the 15-hour drive from Los Angeles to Denver.

Cruising through Utah’s jaw-dropping landscapes made every stop for snacks and shots feel like stepping into a postcard.

In Moab, after a restful night in a throwback motel, I hit up Arches National Park. It was surreal wandering through these rock formations, pausing to munch on a turkey sandwich stored cold in the dry storage drawer of the Ninja FrostVault™ Cooler. To wash it down? Water kept icy cold in my Ninja Thirsti™ Travel Bottle, which can hold ice for up to a day even in the heat of the desert.

Just living the dream, even when sunburned and sweaty.

As the beautiful, expansive Utah desert faded in my rear view like a cowboy riding into the sunset, crossing the Rocky Mountains on a long-haul to Denver was up next. My road trip companion Cyrus (watch the video, won at the Santa Monica Pier at the end of Route 66 – the most legendary road trip highway of all time) and I had a mission: Cross the continental divide on I-70, catch a few ZZZZs in Denver, and then set up shop with a batch of Ninja FrostVault™ Coolers near the ballpark.

The next day, we did exactly that. Our efforts culminated in a cooler-fest where we built a cooler throne fit for a road trip king (with a nice view of the ballpark, too), showing off this bold advancement in cooler technology to friends and fellow creators in Denver. The event was a huge hit with BroBible friends and family—everyone was buzzing about the Ninja FrostVault™ Cooler and its sick features.

Reflecting on this whirlwind of deserts, mountains, and coolers, it’s clear: when everything clicks, it’s not just good, it’s Ninja-level awesome.
