Sprint

Three months ago, Sprint offered a ridiculously cheap unlimited plan for the low, low price of $15 per month. Sprint is bringing back their ultra affordable unlimited plan, but there’s a catch, because there’s always a catch. The plan is still unlimited, but the price is now $25. Still a great price for unlimited.

Sprint will attempt to woo consumers from AT&T, Verizon, and T-Mobile with a much cheaper monthly rate for unlimited talk, text, and data. The Sprint Unlimited Kickstart plan is eligible to customers who are switching over from another wireless carrier and bringing their own smartphone with them or purchasing a phone outright.

The $25 unlimited plan is definitely a bargain price despite being $10 more than the previous offering. The $25 per line price makes it the cheapest unlimited plan among the four major wireless carriers. T-Mobile’s basic “Essentials” plan is $60 for one line, AT&T’s “Unlimited & More” plan is $70 for one line, and Verizon’s base “Go Unlimited” costs $75 for one line.

However, it is not for everyone. The data is restricted to 480p video, music up to 500 kilobits per second, and gaming streams up to 2 megabits per second. If you are a heavy data user your handset’s data speed will be de-prioritized if the network gets congested. The plan does not include a mobile hotspot feature for tethering several devices.

The $25 per month fee does not include taxes and surcharges. You also must sign up for autopay to get the $25 a month price. You’ll also have to pass a credit check.

If you have access to reliable Wi-Fi all the time then this plan could be a great deal for you to save some money compared to the more expensive competitors. But if you rely on fast data streaming then this might not be the best fit for you.

While the data, texting, and calling is unlimited on this plan, the duration of this offer is very limited. The Kickstart Unlimited plan will be offered during Sprint’s flash sale, which only runs until Thursday, August 30th.

Sprint merged with T-Mobile four months ago and is continually trying to compete against the big three in the wireless service marketplace. The proposed merger is currently under review by the Federal Communications Commission and the Department of Justice. There is no timeline as to when the proposed $26.5 billion merger will be approved or denied.

Sprint announced that they will launch a 5G network in the first half of 2019. Sprint has already signed a deal with LG to have a 5G-ready smartphone by then.
