Vince Young Alvies Cowboy Boot
Back in August, before Netflix dropped its Untold documentary on Vince Young, I jumped on a call with VY for a long interview about his career. We covered a lot of ground. He talked about his unlikely bromance with Matt Leinart, the USC quarterback he beat for a national title. He explained how he actually got better as a quarterback in Nashville, even while butting heads with Jeff Fisher. And of course, we relived the 2006 Rose Bowl, where his famous game-winning dash for the endzone was actually designed as a pass.
One thing became obvious pretty quickly during our chat. Two decades after the 2006 Rose Bowl, Vince is and always will be a Texas legend.
So it makes sense that his latest move is a pair of cowboy boots.
Young has teamed up with Texas bootmaker Alvies Boot Company on The VY, a limited, hand-numbered cowboy boot that retails for $595.
The new boots are available now via the Austin-based bootmaker.
If you’re the type of Longhorns fan who still gets misty watching that fourth-and-five scramble against USC, you already know where this is going.
What makes the Alvies Vince Young Boots so special?
The VY comes in two colorways: Blackout Black and Pigskin Brown. Appropriately, the stitching on the boot shaft is inspired by football lacing, which is a fun nod for anyone who spent their Saturdays in the fall of 2005 yelling at a TV.
A custom VY shield monogram shows up on the boot itself and throughout the packaging.

Every pair is numbered by hand. According to Alvie’s owner, George Baker, this call was intentional.
“We didn’t want this to feel like merchandise,” Baker said. “Every pair that goes out with Vince’s name on it is treated like the boots we’d want to keep for ourselves. A bit of an artifact or memorabilia.”
Young seems pretty fired up about it, too, saying in a press release that the partnership was a chance to make something special for his neighbors and fans.
“Greatness isn’t loud. It’s earned in the work no one sees, and that’s exactly what Alvies puts into every pair,” Young said. “This one means something to me.”

Alvies is a new modern staple. The brand was founded in Austin in 2010 by Alvie Faulkenberry IV and was acquired by 2 The Moon Ventures, which also owns the flip-flop company Hari Mari, in 2025 as part of a roll-up of western wear brands.
Where To Buy The VY
The VY is available now on the Alvies website and at the company’s Bespoke Western retail store at 105 South Main Street in Saint Jo, Texas.
Since the run is limited and hand-numbered, I wouldn’t wait around. Grab your pair before the Red River Rivalry crowd cleans out the inventory on Saturday, October 10.
