I’ve been an on-and-off runner since my cross country/track and field days in high school. It was much easier to pick it up after long periods when I was younger, but I’m in my 30s now and everything’s just a little more difficult. My hamstrings are always kinda tight. I’m pretty sure I have plantar fasciitis developing in one of my heels. More than ever, if I expect to keep running into my 40s and beyond, I need to make sure I’m getting the right support from my running shoes. With my new On Cloudsurfer Max shoes, I’m getting exactly that.

In the past, I had two priorities for buying running shoes: price and fit. I have somewhat wide feet, so I find myself avoiding most running shoes because they feel too narrow. As for price, I always figured that it wasn’t worth spending a lot because I’d wear through them so quickly.
As soon as I gave the Cloudsurfer Max shoes a spin, my first thought was, “Why have I been subjecting my feet to inferior footwear all this time?”

I went out to my normal running spot at a park near my house. Almost all of the trails are paved, so I would get a good sense of the Cloudsurfer Max’s support on hard ground as a runner with a heavy step. Right away, the double layer of CloudTec Phase™ and Helion™ superfoam made every step feel like I was bouncing. I also had plenty of room on the sides without feeling like I was wearing flippers.
All in all, these are easily the best shoes I’ve ever worn in almost 20 years of running.
