I wanted to bring your attention to 291 Colorado Whiskey today because these are absolutely phenomenal. I recently sampled the 291 Colorado Rye and Small Batch and I’m here to tell you gentlemen that these are some of the smoothest whiskey expressions I’ve come across in the past calendar year.
The Colorado Rye checks in at 101.7-proof (50.8% alcohol). It is distilled in a copper pot before being aged in American White Oak barrels for a year. It is then finished in Aspen staves. This Rye is well balanced with tasting notes of maple, oak, rye bread and cinnamon.
The 291 Small Batch Colorado Bourbon Whiskey is divine. It was originally created as an experimental batch from 291 known as the ‘Bad Guy’ but it turned out to be so, so good. It checks in at approximately 120 proof and it’s a wheated four-grain bourbon. This is 291’s most award-winning expression and one that you will absolutely thank me for turning you onto once you pick up a bottle.
