This Ultra Soft Fleece Poncho Is An Entire Winter Vibe

I love hoodie season. I love the feeling of zipping up or pulling over a trusted hoodie, heading out in to the cold, and embracing the snug coziness that comes with it. It’s one of the best things about when temperatures start to dip, even here in Southern California this time of year.

I have a trunk full of hoodies in my bedroom – band merch hoodies, beer merch hoodies, plain blank hoodies – that are just comfortable, all serve their unique purpose for everyday wear.

This year, however, it became apparently that it was time to part ways with some old ones and upgrade.

It’s been years since I’ve had a proper poncho. I definitely went through a poncho phase in college, along with patchwork corduroy pants and my undeniable love for jam bands, but that poncho was a head shop quality poncho – itchy and stiff to the point of unwearable. I always dug the look – part Spicoli, part McConaughey, part Point Break – but never saw one that felt quality enough to buy.

Until I found Faherty’s line of retro, Baja-style surf ponchos.

Faherty ponchos and hoodies are inspired by the surfing culture in the seventies, when surfers tripped down to Mexico to shred and bought ponchos for chilly nights on the beach. Faherty’s ponchos are a little bit of Malibu, a little bit of Montauk – all things considered, an entire vibe in of itself. The designs embrace the fun of surf culture, with each garment meticulously crafted to be comfortably lived in.

The one I bought was the Faherty Juneau Knit Poncho, in a Half Moon Twilight colors– it’s made with brushed fleece that’s super soft and super warm, with the perfect amount of stretch for those active moments. It comes in a four-color print motif, chambray detailing, and genuine corozo buttons.

It’s a whole mood, providing both warmth and comfort. An instant new favorite in my wardrobe, as pictured in the park by my house above.
