What’s unique about the Vicara Cerne Carafe is the design is inspired by the Portuguese word “cerne,” which translates to “heartwood.” Heartwood is the hard inner section of a tree, the densest part.
Using molds made from a carob tree heartwood, Vicara made the decanter replica of the heartwood using hand-blown glass techniques. If you get up close enough to the decanter, you can see textured lines in the glass acting like wood.
Each decanter is handcrafted in Leiria, Portugal and comes with wood and a natural cork stopper. And because it’s crafted with hand-blown glass, that means each decanter will come out with its own unique subtle variations.
