Zodiac watches already make for the perfect Christmas present, but why not take it a step further? Why not treat yourself to a limited-edition timepiece that delivers modern performance with a vintage look and feel? Zodiac teamed up with 80s throwback brand Rowing Blazers to create this Super Sea Wolf watch inspired by the 1983 comedy classic Trading Places.

This collaboration is especially exciting for me, as Trading Places is probably my favorite Eddie Murphy movie and one of my personal favorite 80s comedies. I feel like this flick gets overlooked in conversations about great Christmas movies, but it shouldn’t. Certainly has as much merit as a Christmas movie as Die Hard (and no, that was not an invitation to start that played-out debate).

The inspiration for this watch comes from the scene in which Louis Winthorpe III (Dan Aykroyd), down on his luck after “trading places” with Billy Ray Valentine (Murphy), tries to pawn off his very expensive watch only to get $50 in return.

Zodiac and Rowing Blazers have even gone so far as getting Adam Scott of Step Brothers and Parks and Recreation fame to recreate Winthorpe’s mugshots from the movie.

About Zodiac Watches

Shop Zodiac watches

The history of Zodiac watches actually goes all the way back to 1882 in the land of all great timepieces: Switzerland. Of course, back then they were all making pocket watches that still hung from your suit on a chain. Like all brands that have stood the test of time, Zodiac adapted and evolved with the times and the transition to wristwatches as the 20th century progressed.

However, the ball really started rolling in 1953 with the introduction of the Sea Wolf, the world’s first purpose-built dive watch for the general public. Now, everyone could channel their inner Jacques Cousteau and explore the ocean. Or, they could show off their watch and brag about how deep you can dive with it.

If the watch is good enough for Sean Connery’s James Bond and Navy SEALS, it’s good enough for the rest of us.
