Hell, this is almost a whole ‘nother movie. Paul Thomas Anderson’s The Master hit Blu-Ray last week and included a staggering amount of deleted material – some twenty minutes worth. The film was a masterpiece, one of my favorites of last year, and the fact that it got snubbed at the Oscars is a crime. This twenty-minute reel is pretty unusual to see in a movie of this caliber, but the film went through a lot of changes during development so it’s not terribly surprising that some material wound up on the cutting room floor. What do you think? Did it make sense to cut all this out?
