And now in ‘Anchorman 3’ news, Adam McKay says there won’t ever be a third movie

Paramount Pictures

If you’re in love with the Anchorman franchise you’re probably going to be bummed by this news — three won’t be a charm. Mostly because, according to co-creator Adam McKay, a third movie will never happen.

In a recent interview with Empire magazine, McKay bluntly said that the series is over.

“It’s done. I think that’s it. It was great to do it and it was so fun to work with those guys again, but I think that’s it for Ron Burgundy … No, that’s the last sequel we’re gonna do. There’s nothing more fun to me than new characters and a new world. And now we’re releasing this alt version, we’re totally satisfied. No Anchorman 3.”

As the director, and co-writer, McKay is a rather credible inside source but there are two things fan (and even McKay) should keep in mind. The first is that if the studios threw a ton of money at the duo, they might reconsider. Maybe not soon, but in the future. The second thing to keep in mind is that McKay can’t see the future. Like, at all. Nothing is ever off the table.

So, keep hope alive Anchorman fans , and maybe check out the re-released version hitting theaters this weekend.
