Arizona students piled into the streets following their loss to Wisconsin Saturday. Some of them just wanted to have fun, others had the worst of intentions. This girl appears to be in the “minding her own business” camp when she’s blindsided by an overzealous officer.
As a veteran of many unlawful gatherings (and possibly a riot or two), I can tell you that this is not out of the ordinary. In fact, I’d say it’s quite common. Cops are in a lose-lose situation here. Do nothing and they get pelted with rocks and beer bottles. Try to do too much and well, you get this. It’s been happening for a long time now, we just all have mobile phones now.
This dude’s getting suspended, don’t worry. he’s the police department’s scapegoat. But don’t think for a minute he was the only one. He was just the only one who got caught.
