Company releases major face of WWE Network — more cuts coming? — WWE News

WWE roster cuts are still happening. Today, the company let go a major face on the WWE Network.

Weeks after “Black Thursday”, the WWE continues to trim the roster of in-ring and on-camera talent. The Wrestling Observer is reporting that the company has parted ways with WWE Network lead announcer Josh Mathews.

WWE removed Josh Mathews’ profile from the main roster page and placed it in the Alumni section of the website. An official statement from the WWE should be forthcoming.

Mathews’ WWE career began with a spot on season two of Tough Enough. Mathews finished third behind Maven and Nidia. Josh Mathews was then hired as a backstage interviewer, saw his role expand into an announcer and then a lead anchor on the WWE Network.

With the company eager to shed payroll, more roster cuts are sure to trickle down in the days and weeks to come.
