Starz is adding to its lineup of original series with Black Sails, a pirate drama that serves as a 20-year prequel to Treasure Island. It should help fill the sex and swords void left by Spartacus. The pirate genre has been PG-ified in the past decade thanks to Captain Jack Sparrow and his merry band of mercenaries, so it will be refreshing to see someone take a cutlass to the face for once. Plus, the trailer shows some lesbian buccaneering, and we can all get aboard with that.
I’m all in for this new series, if not for the adventure, than because the main character is named Captain Flint. How could I not watch?
